Greeting is from the Christmas Tag set. And no, that is not a new punch, just the Decorative Label punched twice. Use a post-it note to hold the image and punch a second time in the other direction.

Sentiment Rings

Do you always use the same thank you stamp or the same birthday stamp? Do you know how many sentiments you own? Well, now you can make a sentiment ring to keep your cards fresh. You will be surprised at how many sentiments are in your stamp sets. Simply stamp your sentiments onto a neutral cardstock and label the back with the name of the set. Directions for cutting and scoring: Base card is 4 1/4 x 11". Cut vertical slits 3/4" or 1" wide from both long edges, starting 1" from the bottom to 6 1/2". Now there are 2 edge panels and a center panel. Score and fold at 1", 2", and 6 1/2" from the bottom, but only along the 2 edge panels. Score and fold at 5 1/2" from the bottom only on the center panel.

My 2nd card for the Word Play swap at convention is a holiday card. The coloring is off a little, but this card was super easy to create. I love using the white stazon on window sheets. It rarely smears and dries quickly. I punched the window sheet and Garden Green cardstock with the ornament punch. The red glimmer paper is attached to the back of the window sheet with a mini glue dot and it doesn't show. Behind the red glimmer paper is a dimensional. Enjoy!

I applied a 2" strip of multipurpose adhesive sheet to a 2" strip of the designer paper. Using the Northern Frost Sizzlet, I die-cut the snowflakes. Just peel off the adhesive backing and apply to your project.

Choose a side of the embossing folder to brayer with Classic Crumb Cake Ink. Place cardstock carefully onto inked folder and run through the big shot.

Ink teacup image in Early Espresso and stamp onto Pretty in Pink Cardstock. Using a sponge, apply Shimmer Paint to teacup image and let dry. Cut out teacup. Ink Elizabeth stamp with Classic Crumb Cake and stamp onto Whisper White cardstock that has been embossed. Apply teacup to the Elizabeth image with a dimensional. Place length of ribbon onto a multipurpose adhesive sheet.

Peel ribbon and place at the edge of the embossed cardstock. Adhese to cardfront to card. Apply pearls.

I'm Back! And I am celebrating 10 years!

Well, I am ready to get back to stampin' after spending the summer hanging with the kids. My two oldest are now nestled into their college routines again (one in her 2nd year of dorm living and the other is living in a rental house with 4 of his friends.) The youngest seems to be settled into her new middle school routine. Now to stamp.

The new 2010-2011 Idea Book and Catalog is fabulous with new colors, plenty of new trendy and chic stamp sets, and wonderful accessories. And now the Holiday Mini is in full swing with wonderful ideas and product. Just need to figure out what I want to start with first. Of course I will be using designer papers.

Check back next week. I hope to have several new fall samples up and maybe even a few holiday samples.

I am also celebrating 10 years as an SU! Demonstrator. Time flies when you are having fun!

It has warmed up a tad and the snowfall from December 18th is melted all away, finally. This cute card features the sunflowers from A Flower for All Seasons ( a set you can get for free during Sale-A-Bration). My friend and fellow stamper, Kim S, designed and colored this card. I love how she used sponge daubers to color the image. Rich Razzleberry and Crushed Curry make for a bright and cheery note in the midst of winter. Enjoy!

Sweet Pea Inspiration

The color inspiration for this card comes from the Sweet Pea designer paper stack. I used a tone on tone for the Teeny Tiny Wishes greeting, (it's a little hard to see in this picture.) Punched a 1 3/8" circle from the taken with teal layer to create the frame focal point. Enjoy!

I have been trying to get more correct color on my pictures, so now the pretty in pink and mellow moss look good, but the white background seems a little blue (lol). I like the Sweet Pea designer paper and the Sweet Pea Stitched Felt pieces. I used a marker to color in the letters and the new Pinking Hearts Border. Enjoy!

Stampin' Royalty Birthday Card Challenge #1

I am back! We had a wonderful and quiet holiday. Phil and Avery successfully completed the Fall semester at the University of Maryland. Phil is off to Paris for the winter term, a study abroad course about the history of music and art in Paris at the turn on the 20th century. Avery is also taking a geography course over the winter term as well. Hilary is back to school too and hopefully getting to make the candy houses tomorrow at school. They were originally going to make candy houses on the last day before the winter break, but we were covered in 17 inches of snow! I did enjoy having all my kids under the roof again and subsequently didn't get much stampin' done. But it's a new year and here we go.... This sketch is the Mojo Monday 120 Sketch. I am planning a stamp-a-stack and want to use the Note Cards and feature the Big Shot. I ran the note card through the Big Shot using the elegant bouquet embossing folder and cut the flower using the simple flower embosslit. Partridge in a Pear Tree - PPA 17

Ok, I was stumped for a stamp set to use on the Pals Paper Art sketch. I had been using Cheep Talk earlier in the day and it was still out, and then it hit me, a partridge in a pear tree (with some snowflakes of course). The pears are inked in Summer Sun and rolled in Sahara Sand. The bird is inked in Real Red and rolled in Basic Brown. Happy Holidays!

Spa Birthday Party

No stamping over the last two days. When you turn 11 on a Wednesday, sometimes your birthday just lasts for a few days. Hilary's spa party was tonight and into tomorrow morning and everyone is watching a movie at the moment. So, a few pictures. We decorated flip flops, made bath salts, did the cucumber on the eyes, painted nail and decorated picture frames. By far, the girls giggled the most with the cucumbers, but waiting to have their nails painted was quite fun too. I have been saving all the ad catalogs like Oriental Trading, American Girl mags and the jewelry ads. The girls were a hoot to listen to as they waited patiently to get their nails done. And let's just say that I stamp better than I decorate cakes, LOL!

Today is my baby's birthday and she is now 11. Don't know where the time goes. But I was in a pinch for time today, so I used the wonderful Mojo Monday 113 sketch. I like using the sketches for one of a kind cards since it makes it much quicker. I made the eleven from the candle on the cupcake in Crazy for Cupcakes, lovin' the Tea Party designer paper, and you can't turn eleven without some dazzling diamonds!!!

Mojo 112 - Merry Moments

Using the Mojo 112 Challenge and the Sweet Treat Cups, I created this little tasty Christmas Cheer. The sentiment is from the Chit Chat Rub-ons. The Ribbon is from the Mistle Toe collection. The Sweet Treat cups are the perfect size for a peppermint patty.

My 11 year old is always concerned about having to tear the card up to get the treat. So I made a small pocket and inserted a rectangluar piece to keep the candy inside.Enjoy!

It's that time of year and Hilary is learning some holiday songs for the season. Her first choice was Frosty the Snowman. This snowman is from Punch Pals. Add a Pretties Kit hat pin and some 5/8" brocade blue grosgrain ribbon and you have the perfect card to accompany any gift or to simply say thank you. This is the perfect card for younger stampers to help out with. The punching of your main image can be punched at any angle and the card is still cute.

Hilary's birthday party is right around the corner, so into my studio we went. Hilary has her own stash of Stampin' Up! stamp sets. She always goes through my retiring sets and picks out one or two sets she likes and keeps them for occassions such as these. This year we are hosting a spa sleepover. You've probably seen this template several places on my blog. It is easy to duplicate and assemble, so it's great when you need to mass produce. It's also good for using up the lovely designer paper that is retired. The Kaleidoscope designer paper is 4" x 4".

I love the Autumn Traditions designer paper, but decided I needed a more muted look to complement the turkey image, hence the vellum. Similar to Gobble gobble #2, I used the Rock N Roll technique to ink the turkey. I used the horizontal slot punch several times to create a slot to pull up the striped ribbon.

Gobble Gobble #1

Gobble, Gobble is a terrific single stamp in the Holiday Mini. And it's just the right size to sandwich one of the few leftover peppermint patties I used in my Halloween spiders. When I mounted this stamp, I cut off the words and mounted the words on the side of the wood block. The turkey is mounted as usual. I started off by using markers to color in the turkey, and though that provides a lovely turkey, it is very fast. So, I initially inked the turkey in More Mustard, used the Rock N Roll technique in Ruby Red. Using a somewhat dry aquapainter, I quickly removed the color from the body and used a soft suede marker to just color in the body of the turkey. Much more my speed. Guess I'll have to buy 2 more bags of peppermint patties just to make 10 or so of the turkeys...make one, eat one...make one, eat one...

I couldn't resist playing in the Pals Paper Arts Challenge this week. I love the colors of the Holiday Lounge designer paper and had a sketch I wanted to try. You see, the one thing about the lovely designer paper I don't like, is that you usually don't get to see both sides at the same time. But designer paper is one of my all time favorite card elements. The silver cardstock went through the Big Shot with a Texturz plate, the greeting and snowman images are from The More the Merrier Hostess set. And I couldn't resist the extra sparkle with some dazzling diamonds. Happy Stampin'!

Today, I had just a few minutes to create and wanted to send my daughter a card. And I actually came up with this all by myself. There are so many nice projects, magazines, and blogs for inspiration, but I was in a hurry to get this card done and in the mail. It would make a nice Valentine card also. It was quick to ink the image with markers and use the Kaleidoscope designer paper. Avery loves the bold bright colors and I hope she enjoys the card for her special occassion.

Many of Hilary's friends have late fall and early winter birthdays. Most of her friends own the SU! tattoo kits from previous birthdays and now most are getting gift cards. Wandering Words Fall

I used watercolor paper, markers and aquapainters for the main image background. It's super easy to do and love how it looks different each time. Andrea Walford has a great video tutorial for creating the watercolor wash and her site is full of beautiful projects. My husband and I blew, raked and cleaned up the yard last Friday, just in time for Halloween. And today, you can't tell, oh well, that's what I love about this image. It's way more fun to stamp than do leaves, lol.....

Wandering Words Mojo Monday (mojo111)

Well I had to try my hand at the Mojo Monday Sketch. And I wanted a fresh idea for using my new Wandering Words set. It's hard to see, but I applied some of the new Champagne Mist to both images. My card uses Sahara Sand cardstock and Holiday Lounge Designer paper. Watch for 2 additional cards using Wandering Words later this week. Happy November!

Dasher and the Bride Specialty Paper

Dasher is one of the best selling stamps this year. And with the Bride Specialty Paper (the embossing on the paper resists the classic ink), you get a really cool look. The swirls certainly match the Dasher motif. Dasher is found on page 208 ( the very last page) of the catalog.

Pop-up Card Animal Stories Style

Even though I like to make cards for special occassions, I still am not always on time. So it's good to have a few belated birthday cards in the stash. The special surprise is the pop-up inside the card. Super easy to do with a word window punch. This card is 11 x 4 1/4 inches. Fold the card base in half. Next, using the word window punch upside down, line up the center notch on the fold of the card and make sure the cardstock is all the way into the punch. Do this on both sides of the card to create the pop-up stand.

Better late than never! When I attended convention in early August, I roomed with 3 wonderful demonstrators from around the country. Kathleen was from Oklahoma, Angie from California, and Shelley from Wisconsin. At any rate, I made them a roommate gift and this is an example of the tag I made to go with the kit. I used colors from the Thoroughly Modern designer paper, Rose Red, Bermuda Bay and Soft Suede. When mounting the Fun and Fast Notes set, I cut the greetings off and placed them on the side of the block. That way I can mix and match the images with the greetings. To make the corner punches, I punched the designer paper with the curly label punch first, then inserted that punch into the photo frame punch.

Wanted: A Great Birthday! I love the Melon Mambo- Crushed Curry colors together for this card. I used the Magnetic Movers and Shapers to die cut the stars. The Razzleberry Lemonade designer paper was punched for the smaller stars. Also used a Texturz Plate that looks like woodgrain to complete the look.

Cottage Wall #2

This cute little acorn stamp is from a hostess set, The More the Merrier. The card stock weight vellum was run through the Big Shot with a Texturz plate. The acorn image fits neatly into the 1 1/4" circle punch and layers nicely with the 1 3/8" circle and scallop circle punch. Colors are Dusty Durango, More Mustard, and Soft Suede polka-dot ribbon. The inside of the card is shown below and I used a greeting from Teeny Tiny Wishes. The ribbon hides the inside greeting.

Baby Shower Invitation

Update: Baby arrived safely on the October 19th!

My very good friend, Tiffany, is expecting her 1st baby any day now. I created this baby shower invitation to coordinate with the theme and colors of her nursery. I was inspired by a card on page 141 of the SU! catalog, just changed the colors to match the nursery. Tiffany's bedding even has elephants in certainly celery and soft suede. I have been a demonstrator for 9+ years and I now see the world through the glasses of the SU! color gurus. Thanks, Tiffany, for choosing your nursery colors so expertly and allowing me to be an honored hostess for one of your showers. Your baby is very lucky to have you for a mom;)

Holiday Lounge #1 and #2

I love the color combination in the Holiday Lounge designer paper, Ruby Red and Taken with Teal. And I love trying to use something in a different way. Here I have used the paper to make a father's day card with a Circle Circus stamp, as opposed to using the Holiday Lounge paper for traditional holiday cards.

Above, I chose a stamp from Pocket Silhouettes to match this design. Sahara Sand is one of my favorite card bases. It looks good with anything. Other accessories: Basic Gray taffetta ribbon, Build-a-Brads, scalloped edge punch.

Grandma's 95th Birthday!

Today is my grandmother's birthday and she turns 95! She lives in Golden, Colorado and will be celebrating this weekend with kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids! Here is the card I designed just for her using My Digital Studio. It has a softness to the card, the background images are stamped in Pretty in Pink and then I lowered the opacity of the images to soten them. The ribbon looks so real.

Sweet Centers for Sweet Roommates

I made this pair of cards using the Sweet Centers stamp set. These cards are intended for Avery and her roommate in College Park. A quick tip: punch the 1 3/4" circle in the white layer first. Then punch the next immediate layer, and so on. This will allow for easy alignment of the circles when layering. After adhering the treat cup to the white layer, I added the designer paper. I also used the stamp-a-ma-jig and vellum to line up the balloon basket.

Now, Hilary was watching me make these cards and asked, "Do you have to rip up the card to get the treats?" That got me to thinking and I had seen various options from other stampers to preserve the card, but I needed something quick and easy. (I like quick and easy;) So before adhering the decorative front pieces to the ballet blue card base, I punched a 3/4" circle (large enough to insert the candy) in the front of the card base. Then covered the opening with the leftover 1 3/4" circle of designer paper. No destroying a wonderfully made card just to get to the chocolate!

Pumpkin Picking

Every year we head out as a family to pick the perfect pumpkin at the pumpkin patch. We are so lucky to live in an area where just a few minutes west of here, we can catch a ride on a tractor trailer and head into the fields. This year, our adventure will be a little different. Since Phil and Avery are in college, it will be just the 3 of us. We will have to invite some friends to go with us this year. Or, Avery, if you are reading this, you could join us for the afternoon. The More the Merrier, a level 3 hostess set, and the Razzleberry Lemonade designer series paper are just right for this pumpkin picking adventure. Quick and Easy coloring, I just used sponge daubers on the pumpkins, and some quick marking for the perfect pumpkin!

Little Boo!

Have you found the Under $10 of the current catalog? It's on page 208 and there are several items available that are very cute, including the Little Boo stamp. Boo layers easily with the circle punches and is quickly accented with the Cast A Spell designer paper. I have seen samples of this skull paper and folks have used chalks to change the color of the skull to go with colors other than Only Orange and Pumpkin Pie.

I just received the Gobble, Gobble stamp on page 31 of the Holiday Mini. I am excited to play and will show you some projects in future posts.

Halloween Card for Hilary

Not to be left out, I made a Franksteinette for Hilary. I used the Top Note die in garden green and basic black. Just used scissors to cut her bangs and the scallop oval punch to get that great smile. The basic gray designer grid paper came from a hostess paper pack sampler.

I created my blog banner using SU!'s My Digital Studio. It is a fabulous tool that let's you create cards, bound albums, digital albums, calendars, and multimedia projects. I will try to post a few pages of an album I created. So easy and intuitive to use, plus I have access to many stamp images that I do not own. I am thinking that the calendars will make easy holiday gifts. Tammy

Halloween Treats Again

I have seen these cute little spiders on many blogs and even received one as a swap at Convention '09. I don't know who to give credit to for this cute critter, because there was not a name attached to him. I did, however, have to recreate this little guy, as the peppermint patty disappeared. He is created using a variety of punches, namely a scallop circle and the photo corners punch for the body and legs.

The picture above shows what the back of the face looks like. I am not one for gluing on teeny tiny circles, so the small circles are punched using a hand-held 1/4" in circle punch. I punched a couple of different circles in the Lovely Lilac and Melon Mambo cardstocks and adhered those circles to the back of our spider friend's face (in the photo above right). In the photo above left shows the other part of our spider sandwich. All of which I sandwiched together using Snail and/or glue dots. I did ask my husband if it looked like a spider, of course he said yes! Yea, Peter. These treats won't last long either. My peppermint patty bag is already half empty and I only made 3 spiders so far;)

PPA11 Color Challenge

I have been blog surfing for some time now, and there are a few blogs I love to follow. I like the clean and simple look of the projects they post. And now, that I have decided to blog myself, I am motivated by the challenge of Paper Pal Arts. The color challenge was to use Perfect Plum, Pumpkin Pie and Old Olive. I needed to break out a new set from the Holiday Mini, Wandering Words, and dive in. I used the markers to ink the fall stamp. The ribbon is from the Mistletoe Collection in the Holiday Mini as well. I also opened the Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint. I applied the paint to the card base and to the stamped image also. Can't wait to try the other 2 stamps in the Wandering Words set.

Halloween Card #2

Here is the 2nd watercolor card. Isn't it a fabulous Halloween sunset (lol)! I am sending this one to Phil. I stamped the greeting directly onto the ribbon with Stazon ink. Love the House of Haunts set. The ribbon in Dusty Durango 1/2" polka dot, just tied so the polka dots do not show. Feel free to leave a comment with any questions or comments. Halloween Treats

As promised, here is the 1st Halloween treat. Sweet Centers stamp set is going to be great for college pick me-ups for Phil and Avery, and easy classroom treats for Hilary's class. I used SU!'s Fancy Favor die for the box and just trimmed off the elegant edge. The goblins stamp from Sweet Centers measures 2 9/16" x 2 5/8". I cut the white card stock to exactly fit the image and used a stamp-a-ma-jig to place it just right. Next, I punched the center of the image with the 1 1/4" circle punch, and then punched with the 1 3/4" circle punch. I also punched the front of the favor box with the 1 3/4" circle punch and put a piece of window sheet to show the goodies inside. Quick and Easy!

The Sweet Treat cups are very cute too. Watch for a couple of samples using the cups next week.

Halloween Water Color

My good friend, Nancy, asked me to post a few Halloween ideas. So now that it is October 6, I thought I better get busy. I used a Texturz plate on the Not Quite Navy card base. I softly sanded the dry embossing with a sanding block and it looks like the embossing pops off the card a little more. I love water coloring for Halloween. And even better, one piece of SU!'s watercolor paper fits both the larger images from the House of Haunts set. Using aqua painters and markers, I saturated the watercolor paper. I used my heat tool to quickly dry the watercolor paper, stamped my image in versamark ink and heat embossed using the black powder. My other favorite way to add a greeting is to stamp directly onto ribbon or use rub-ons on ribbon. This greeting is from Teeny Tiny Wishes and is stamped directly onto the Old Olive ribbon in the Mistle Toe Collection from the Holiday Mini. I hope my daughter will be happy to receive this card and a few other Halloween treats (see tomorrow's post) in her first college Halloween care package.

Welcome to my corner of the world. Today, I am sharing some cards that were created using Stampin' Up!'s Autumn Traditions Designer Series Paper. I love the designer papers and try to use every last piece. And often the papers are beautiful as the main image for the card front. Three of the cards use a 3"x4" or 4"x4" piece of designer paper making for easy cutting if you need several cards.
